EasyDNN Gallery 14: A Modern New Interface for an Outstanding User Experience

EasyDNN Gallery 14 brings one of the biggest user experience improvements to the module in recent years. The new version introduces a completely redesigned Media Manager, modernizes the way galleries and media are managed, improves video and audio support, and brings new and refreshed themes for Gravity Gallery and Gravity Portfolio.

The goal of this release was not simply to add more features, but to make everyday gallery management faster, clearer, and more enjoyable, whether you are maintaining a small image gallery or managing a website with a large amount of media content.

A Completely Redesigned Media Manager

The biggest change in EasyDNN Gallery 14 is the new Media Manager.

The entire interface has been redesigned with a modern, responsive approach, making it much easier to work with categories, galleries, images, videos, and other media. The new interface adapts to different screen sizes and provides a cleaner workspace where the most commonly used actions are easier to find and perform.

Managing larger galleries is now considerably more efficient. Media can be searched and sorted, while drag-and-drop ordering makes reorganizing content quick and intuitive. When working with multiple items, bulk actions allow administrators to approve, move, copy, or delete selected media at once instead of processing every item individually.

Category and gallery management have also been integrated into the new experience. Permissions can be configured directly where the content is managed, while localization support is available for categories, galleries, and individual media items.

The result is a much more streamlined workflow, especially for websites where galleries are updated frequently or managed by multiple editors.

Better Tools for Managing Images and Media

The new Media Manager also improves many everyday media-management tasks.

Images can be replaced without having to recreate the media item, rotated when necessary, and configured with downloadable versions and thumbnails. Thumbnail management has been improved as well, giving administrators greater control over how images are presented throughout the gallery.

Uploading content is more flexible too. In addition to standard local uploads, EasyDNN Gallery 14 includes advanced upload options and the ability to import files directly from folders on the server. Embedded videos can also be added and managed within the same interface.

Media details are displayed in a new responsive Details drawer, allowing editors to inspect and modify media information without constantly moving between separate screens. The drawer can be pinned when needed, making it particularly useful when working through multiple media items.

Behind the new interface are numerous improvements related to validation, caching, DNN permissions, localization, and security. These changes make the new Media Manager not only more pleasant to use, but also a stronger foundation for managing media on modern DNN websites.

Improved Video and Audio Experience

EasyDNN Gallery 14 also brings an important modernization of video playback.

VideoJS is now available as a selectable video player alongside FlowPlayer. VideoJS support has also been added to Gravity Gallery, Gravity Portfolio, and gallery lightboxes, providing a modern alternative for displaying video content across different gallery layouts.

Responsive video behavior has been improved so that embedded and hosted videos adapt more reliably to different screen sizes. Player initialization has also been improved for galleries that use filtering or dynamically load additional content.

Audio playback received similar attention, including fixes for initializing audio players after using the Load More functionality.

At the same time, outdated Flash-based video and audio players have finally been removed, together with the obsolete SWF files they depended on. This reduces legacy code and keeps the module focused on technologies that are appropriate for today's browsers and devices.

New and Redesigned Gravity Gallery Themes

The visual side of EasyDNN Gallery has received a significant refresh as well.

EasyDNN Gallery 14 introduces new or redesigned Gravity Gallery themes based on our latest DNN themes: Andromeda, Buildora, and Celeste. New Gravity Portfolio themes are also available for Andromeda and Celeste.

These themes have been designed to better match contemporary website layouts and responsive design standards. Multiple color styles are included, making it easier to integrate galleries into different website designs without extensive customization.

Theme previews have also been improved. A new visual and responsive theme selector allows administrators to see available designs more clearly when configuring a gallery instead of relying primarily on theme names.

Individual gallery components have received numerous refinements as well. Cards, media details, pagination, embedded content, comments, and action controls have all been improved to provide a more consistent experience across screen sizes.

We have also introduced a new Gravity template contract and validation system. This provides a clearer foundation for Gravity templates and helps ensure that themes follow the expected structure and remain compatible with the functionality provided by the gallery.

As part of this modernization, obsolete and non-functional legacy themes have been removed.

Cleaner and More Intuitive Gallery Settings

The Gallery Settings interface has also been reorganized to make configuration easier to understand.

Older display types are now grouped under Other Displays (Legacy), clearly separating them from the modern Gravity Gallery and Gravity Portfolio options. Administrators who still need these older displays can continue to access them, while a new setting makes it possible to show or hide legacy display options.

Theme, style, and template selection have also been improved, together with responsive alignment and localization throughout the settings interface.

These changes make it easier for both existing and new users to understand which gallery technologies are recommended for new projects while preserving access to legacy functionality where it is still needed.
